Rainbow Art Journal – Polka Dot Girl

This illustration is based on a photo shared as part of the #Tekenuurtje challenge on Instagram. I was drawn to the billowing, triangular shape of the clothing and the polka dots. I really enjoyed working on this illustration and found painting all of those polka dots very meditative.

  1. What fun!!! Love the polka dots and how she’s wearing sneakers to stride out!! It’s also fun how you echo the dot pattern with the big dot background!! Good composition too – good use of the triangle shapes of her in contrast with all of the dots and circles!!!

      • Pictorial or literary devices are called “devices” for a reason- they’re useful!! And we creatives, if we’re lucky, over time, end up with some tropes, for the lack of a better term, or regularly used visual themes.
