I have accidentally established a tradition in my Rainbow Art Journal whereby each colour section contains an illustration of some kind of sprite-like creature. For the blue section, I was thinking of water. I drew a figure who is drenched in water (or, as I would say in Scots, “drookit”), her body morphing into a puddle on the floor, her hair dripping across her face.
That’s what I’ll look like when I get back from walking the dogs this drizzly afternoon. And what the dogs will look like.
Ah yes. I miss owning a dog until I see people having to walk their dog during dreadful weather.
Yup. And nothing loves you like a wet dog. Except a muddy one.
The face and fingers are so expressive and it feels like she’s maybe melting or coming into form – neat!
Thank you so much for that observation. I like that idea of her being between liquid and solid states.
I just finished a book that involved a dripping woman spirit. So now there is a portrait! I love her bedraggled look.
Ha! What a funny coincidence.
Drookit. I spend a lot of time in that state!
You always demonstrate so much fortitude when you go off exploring while drookit.
I love accidentally making (and realizing) a tradition! Such a fun discovery! I enjoy the watery effects you achieve here!
Thank you. Watercolour does, of course, lend itself to watery effects.
